about

globaldutch is a teachers collective of native Dutch teachers living around the world. We offer online Dutch language courses in different time zones, so you can study Dutch online, wherever you are.

our courses

Classes are once a week, and 2 hours long. Each course is 10 classes, and we have 4 periods per year. If you don’t know any Dutch yet (= level zero), you can join our introduction course ‘beginner 1’. If you complete ‘beginner 1’ and the follow-up course ‘beginner 2’, you will get an A1 level certificate. Check our page CEFR for more information about levels and courses.

In addition to our language courses we also offer preparation courses for the Civic Integration Exam Abroad and the CNaVT exams.

questions?

You can contact us through email or WhatsApp:

What happens after I sign up? We will contact you with all relevant information and payment details. The course is confirmed after the minimum number of students have paid the tuition fee.

How can I pay? We have a bank account in the Netherlands. We also use PayPal, but the transaction costs are relatively high. For most countries using an internation money transfer app (like wise.com) is the easiest and cheapest way to pay the tuition fee.

Do we have homework? Yes, homework is around 2 to 3 hours per week, so 20 to 30 minutes per day. Use every opportunity to study! Need to wait for a friend for 10 minutes? Study some vocabulary on quizlet.com!

How do I get my textbook? We recommend using a paper book. Depending on where you live, we can send it to you or you can buy the book yourself. An e-book is also available.

Which textbook do we use? In our ‘beginner’ courses we use Start.nl part 1. In the ‘elementary’ courses we use Start.nl part 2. The textbook for the ‘intermediate’ courses is Nederlands in actie. Check here for the link between our courses and CEFR levels.

How many certificates can I get? You get a certificate for every CEFR level that you reach. So the first certificate is A1, then A2, then B1, etc.

What is the Civic Integration Exam Abroad? Passing this exam is a requirement for applying for a Provisional Residence Permit (MVV). Please check current government regulations whether you need to take this exam, and where to take the exam.

What are the CNaVT exams? CNaVT exams are related to the CEFR, check here for more information about the exams.

Why study Dutch? If you are going to live in the Netherlands or Flanders, you need to speak Dutch to really integrate into society. But not all of our students have that goal, there can be many reasons to learn (some) Dutch. For example if your family has roots in the Netherlands, if your partner is Dutch, if Dutch is relevant for your academic research or in business contacts, or if you just enjoy learning a new language.

How many people speak Dutch? There are around 25 million native speakers of the Dutch language, mostly in the Netherlands and Belgium. So not too many native speakers, but the language is gaining popularity as a foreign language.

What is the refund policy? Cancellation until 2 weeks before the first class: 100%, cancellation before the first class: 90%, cancellation until the third class: 50%. Percentages refer to the tuition fee. Textbook fees can only be refunded if the book is unused (in original plastic) and not registered on the publisher’s website.
